Rockford Newspaper Sustains Editorial Support for Gaming Expansion

“Most Illinoisans do, or at least they support the idea of expanding gambling in the state. A poll for  Chicago Crain’s by Ipsos showed 61 percent favor more gaming while 33 percent are opposed. The results are similar to a poll done for the Illinois Revenue and Jobs Alliance that showed 62 percent favor the expansion of gambling.

“You’ve read the Rockford Register Star’s Editorial Board’s support for SB1849 many times, so we thought you might like to read the opinion of a different newspaper’s editorial board.

“Here’s what the Southern Illinoisan in Carbondale said earlier this month.

“”Once he weighs the massive infusion of revenue against reservations about gambling expansion, Quinn may pragmatically see the wisdom of the existing legislation. It’s not perfect, but it should be signed into law.”

“Of course we agree.”
